Product Recall-Sparboe Eggs

Sparboe Farms is voluntarily recalling shell eggs due to the potential of contamination with Salmonella. The recalled eggs are packaged under the following brand names: Albertson, Sparboe Farms, Liborio Market, Shamrock Foods and Glenwood Farms.

Dates and codes of the recalled eggs can be found stamped on the end of the egg carton. The eggs covered by the recall are marked with the plant number P1167 and the Julian dates of 214, 215, and 219.

The purchase eggs we carry at Second Harvest Hearltland come from Sparboe Farms, and we also receive donated eggs from Sparboe Farms as well. While we do not have any record of receiving any of the eggs covered under the recall, you could also have received them through Food Rescue. We ask that you please check your inventory to see if you have received any of these eggs. If you have any recalled eggs in your inventory, please destroy them. Food Donation Opportunity

Closed Monday September 6th

This is to a reminder that we will be closed on Monday September 6^th for Labor Day. This will change the cut off for ordering for September 7^th and 8^th. The 7^th will be cut off on Thursday the 2^nd, and the 8^th will be cut off on Friday the 3^rd.

Routes 1 & 1A will be delivering on the 7^th with a cut off of the 1st, Route 6 has a cut off of the 2^nd, and route 7 has a cut off of the 3^rd.

Please remember milk needs to be ordered a full week in advance. Have a great day!

If you have looked at the price of ground beef in a store lately, you know how expensive it is. (The store I checked out had it at $2.69/#!) Fortunately, we were recently able to purchase two ground beef items at extremely low prices so that we can pass on the savings to you:

Even though these are in patty form, they can be also be easily used for casseroles, meatloaf, tacos- however your clients use ground beef. If you are a food shelf, you will need to distribute the product by the full box, but any family can easily use that amount of ground beef.
