NAPS - Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors

 Senior Hunger

Through the Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS), Minnesota’s Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), Second Harvest Heartland provides a box of nutritious food each month to low-income seniors 60 years of age and over. Program participants receive a box of highly nutritious food that may include canned fruits, vegetables and juices, milk, cheese, canned meat, peanut butter or dried beans, cereal, rice or pasta. Qualifying participants must be low-income Minnesota residents: seniors 60+ at 130% poverty level.

For more information on the NAPS program, please contact our team at naps@2harvest.org, or 651-484-8241 (toll-free 1-800-365-0270) or Agency Relations click here.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP information. SNAP is a great way to provide seniors with extra food funds! Use this video in your outreach work or to educate volunteers. SNAP use among seniors is especially low. Barriers include not knowing about the program, thinking that they aren’t eligible or being worried it will “take food away” from someone else. While stigma affects many people seeking assistance, it can be particularly hard for seniors to ask for help.
